CLEAN THE BAY DAY COMES TO MILL DAM CREEK!

CALLING ALL KAYAKS & CANOES!

VOLUNTEERS, TEENS & ADULTS OF ALL AGES NEEDED!!

SATURDAY, JUNE 4TH, 9 AM – NOON

Volunteers from the Baycliff community, other local neighborhoods, and Lynnhaven NOW will depart from the Baycliff Boat Ramp in kayaks and canoes and work together to remove rubbish and debris from Mill Dam Creek on Saturday, June 4th.  Help us keep our waterway clean and clear and reduce pollution in the Chesapeake Bay watershed!

This is a terrific opportunity for teens and college students to volunteer and earn community service credit from Lynnhaven NOW and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.  Please tell scout troops, high school clubs and other youth groups about this and also encourage area friends to participate too.

Please arrive promptly at 9 a.m. at the Baycliff boat ramp and plan to work until noon.  Volunteers need to provide their own kayak or canoe. If you can’t physically help, but have a kayak or canoe and paddles to loan other volunteers, that would also be a big help!  Please let us know!!  Please wear sunscreen, hats, long pants and shoes that can get wet.

Lynnhaven NOW needs to know ahead of time the number of volunteers coming so they will have adequate supplies for workers (gloves, trash bags, grabbers) to bring to the site. Please contact Emily Bodsford at emily@lrnow.org for questions and to sign up. Once you’re registered, you’ll be emailed further instructions.

Each year, Clean the Bay Day volunteers remove tens of thousands of pounds of harmful litter and junk from waterways.  Make a difference and be part of this wonderful effort to clean up our environment!
