Baycliff Community Information

Baycliff is a waterfront community of two hundred seventy-nine custom homes located in the Great Neck area of Virginia Beach.   It is a beautifully landscaped neighborhood with majestic shade trees and lovely water views.  The Alanton neighborhood marks the eastern border, Mill Dam Road is to the south, and the Mill Dam Creek and Broad Bay mark the western and northern borders.

Excellent public schools include Alanton Elementary, Lynnhaven Middle, and First Colonial High School, and the private Cape Henry Collegiate School is within walking distance.  Residents praise Baycliff for its convenient location with two major shopping centers, a hospital and diverse medical services, all within a mile’s distance.  The Lynnhaven Mall, featuring over 180 stores, and the Hilltop shopping area are within a ten-minute drive.

Recreational opportunities for residents are outstanding.  A community boat ramp is located at the Baycliff entry.  The adjoining Broad Bay is a boater’s and fisherman’s paradise, and the Atlantic oceanfront is less than five miles away.  The Alanton-Baycliff Recreation Center, open summers, includes a swimming pool, children’s wading pool, snack bar, sundeck and grills. The full service Great Neck Recreation Center, complete with fitness center and indoor pool, is minutes away.

BAYCLIFF CIVIC LEAGUE

The Baycliff Civic League represents 278 families.  The goals of the Baycliff Civic League are to promote neighborhood improvement and safety, protect Baycliff property values, and encourage neighborhood friendships through the provision of social activities.  The Civic League publishes the Baycliff Resident Directory every two years and the “Baycliff Bugle” newsletter five times a year.  This provides excellent neighborhood communication and is the backbone of our highly successful Neighborhood Watch Program, insuring Baycliff ‘s security.  More can be learned about our community at www.baycliff.net

The Baycliff Civic League has worked hard to keep our neighborhood one of the most desirable in the city. Civic league efforts have resulted in new landscaping and lighting at our front entry and circle.  We installed a well and sprinkler system for landscape maintenance and professional landscape services keep our plantings beautiful.  By uniting with other area civic leagues, we have been able to stop commercial development of Mill Dam Road.  The Civic League has a strong and clear voice, resulting in recently paved streets, new sewer and natural gas lines, and digital cable access.  The civic league also renovated the community boat ramp, has increased traffic safety through participation in the city traffic calming program and a renovation project is underway to redredge our boating canal.

Baycliff is a warm and friendly community with an active social calendar.  Our most popular annual events include a fall festival, community-wide luminary lighting on Christmas Eve, a Santa Visit, a Spring Egg Hunt, a spring multi-home community yard sale, and an August multi-block party National Night Out event.
